Writing Bilingual Prayers
When composing bilingual intercessions, it can be effective to headline your subject in the one language and pray in the other e.g. say in English, we pray for our community... and then pray in Welsh. This means that the non-Welsh speakers can join in quietly with their own prayer on the same subject.
- Good resources in Welsh include:
- Enid Morgan Cyfoeth o'i Drysor Cyhoeddiadau'r - Eglwys yng Nghymru 1992 – a book of prayers in Welsh.
- Raymond Chapman's Leading intercessions – Arwain Ymbiliau Canterbury Press 2003 – a bilingual book of intercessions for each Sunday in the Revised Common Lectionary.
The Alternative Book of Morning and Evening Prayer published by the Church in Wales has also a good collection of prayers in both languages
