Revd David Child and Bishop Gregory

New Dee Valley Deanery formed at Epiphany Service

A special Epiphany service took place at St Mary’s, Ruabon on Friday 6 January to merge the two Deaneries of Bangor and Llangollen into the brand new Dee Valley Deanery.

Revd David Child was also installed as the new Area Dean, taking over from Revd David Lewis who had been Area Dean in Bangor and Revd Andrew Sully who served as Llangollen’s Area Dean.

During the service parishioners pinned pictures of their churches to a special map of the new deanery before everyone shared the Eucharist.

The service was led by Bishop Gregory who sprinkled water on the congregation as a sign of God’s forgiveness.

In his sermon he encouraged the newly formed Deanery to reach out to the community.

Bishop Gregory said:

“Those in the world need to see Jesus through us; through our witness, our works and our deeds.

“We need to seek to share the blessing of God with our friends, colleagues and communities.”
