Children from Ysgol y Foryd in Towyn have gathered at St Mary’s Church for their very own version of the Royal Wedding.

Vintage cars brought the bridal party to the venue where they were greeted by a Bishop, distinguished guests and a three tier wedding cake.

All the pupils at Ysgol y Foryd took part in the Mock Royal Wedding, dressing up as a whole host of famous faces including the King and Queen of Spain, celebrities and popstars.

The happy couple are covered in confetti The roles of William and Kate were played by the two students with the best attendance record – Lewis Lloyd, 7 and Emma Storey, 7.

Bishop Stephen Lowe, Priest in Charge at St Mary's played the part of the Archbishop of Canterbury and was assisted by Canon Clive Southerton, who's Associate Priest at St Mary's.

Bishop Stephen said:

“It went brilliantly and I think it has re-established St Mary’s as the church in the heart of the community in Towyn and Kinmel Bay.

“It’s made it possible for the parents and children to see that the church has something to contribute to this community.”

Headteacher at Ysgol y Foryd, Stephanie Cartmel added:

“It couldn’t have gone any better. It’s been a culmination of lots of hard work over the last few weeks and it’s been educational, inspirational and most importantly it’s been fun.

“The curriculum in Wales is more and more about giving children experiences and this couldn’t be better as a lot of the children have never been to a wedding.”

Each class at the school helped to plan the event and after the ceremony the children enjoyed their own mini reception with juice and cup cakes.
