Diocesan Offering 2011

Parishioners from across the Diocese gathered at St Asaph Cathedral on Monday 10 October for the Diocesan Offering Service.

This year we were raising money for our linked Diocese of South West Tanganyika and their motorbike appeal. At the moment, clergy have to travel on foot to see their parishioners, but the purchase of motorbikes and bicycles will change that, meaning they have better access to see more of their Diocese.

During Monday’s service the congregation were invited to move around the Cathedral praying for different areas of South West Tanganyika before the offerings were presented to Mrs Clare Cameron next to a motorbike.

Canon John Kwetu and Sister Aneth from our linked Diocese are on a 10-day visit to St Asaph and were at the service. Canon John gave an address and said:

“We want to thank you for your welcome and for your prayers.

“Wherever we have visited we have learnt a lot and we have enjoyed your love and hospitality.”
