Revd John Lomas at the opening of St Peter's Church, Holywell

Diocese to Benefit from Transition Missioner

A ministry that’s widely used in the United States and Australia is coming to St Asaph. Revd John Lomas has been appointed the new Transition Missioner for the Diocese.

Transition Ministry is undertaken in Parishes where there may be significant challenges – particularly when a group of Churches is facing an interregnum.

In our Diocese it is already being tried out in Towyn with Bishop Stephen Lowe and Revd Canon Clive Southerton. Now Bishop Gregory wants to make this ministry a more permanent fixture of Diocesan life.

John’s challenge will be to spend a fixed amount of time – up to 18 months – working with a Parish to help them identify some strategic plans and goals for growth. He will help Parishes to assess mission priorities, their buildings and to source any available support.

John has seen significant experience of church growth having spent ten years as Vicar in the Parish of Holywell. He's pictured here at the opening of St Peter's in Holywell. John will start this new role in September.
