Archdeacon's Visitations 2011
Throughout May, the three Archdeacon’s in the Diocese of St Asaph took part in their annual visitations. Each issued a charge to members of the Clergy and Congregation and used the occasion to outline plans for the year ahead.
In Wrexham, The Ven Shirley Griffiths spoke of the importance of Lay Ministry as the Diocese continues to reduce the number of paid clergy. She stressed this was an opportunity for the church to embrace this change – to “survive and thrive”.

It was the first round of Visitations for the new Diocesan Registrar, Llyr Williams and in Montgomery, he was welcomed to the post by The Ven John Thelwell.
At the service in Kerry, John used his Archdeacon’s Charge to praise the work of the Laity and retired Clergy for taking on more work in vacant parishes. He too stressed the importance of Lay Ministry and encouraged the congregation to think about planting the seeds of ministry in people’s minds.
In St Asaph it was The Ven Bernard Thomas’ last round of Visitations ahead of his retirement. At a service in Prestatyn he cut a cake to commemorate the occasion and in his charge he spoke of the ministry of Churchwardens being “as important as any” in the life of the Diocese.
At each service a copy of Visitation News was given to everyone who attended. If you didn't get one you can download a copy in pdf form.
