Sunday 26th June and the parish church of St. John the Baptist plays host not one but two bishops and three languages for a service of confirmation.

The service was led by the Bishop of Llandaff and Archbishop of Wales the Most Reverend Dr. Barry Morgan.  Also in attendance was the Right Reverend Paul Sarkar Moderator of the Church of Bangladesh who was visiting the Diocese to formally establish a twinning agreement between Llandaff and Bangladesh.  And so uniquely, as far as Skewen is concerned, the confirmees Daniel Williams and William Roberts were confirmed by both bishops.

Also at the service Dr. Morgan received into the Church in Wales mother and daughter Celia and Melissa Llewellyn from the Roman Catholic Church.

And so probably for the first time ever in St. John's the service concluded with a bilingual blessing in english and welsh from the Archbishop and a blessing in Bengalli from Bishop Sarkar.
